Lemon Myrtle is the highest natural source of citral, the compound that gives lemons and lemon grass their distinctive scent. The dried leaf of the Lemon Myrtle has a free radical scavenging ability and makes a wonderfully therapeutic tonic as it has germicidal powers and has been used as an anti-septic, anti-viral, calmative, sedative and corrective. Start with cold water from the tap for boiling, as this helps enhance the natural Australian native flavours. Use 1 teabag per cup, pour over the boiling water and steep for 1 minute for a pure native flavour or 3-4 minutes if adding sweetener or milk. Enjoy!
